Investment Managers are the ones that make things happen at AppWorks. This position will offer first-hand experience advising founders and making VC investments. Your core responsibility is to manage full life cycles of our investments — including sourcing quality founders, research, forming theses, due diligence, structuring deals, closing process, post-investment tracking, adding value all the way to exit and beyond. You will also be contributing directly to the AppWorks Ecosystem and taking on new initiatives.
You will have the opportunity to:
Formulate investment theses, conduct due diligence, and place bets in emerging industries and technologies, especially in areas related to hardware, semiconductors, advanced manufacturing, and the AI or AIoT sector
Immerse yourself in local markets across the region and compile research reports on upcoming trends, with a special focus on the product cycles, supply chain dynamics, and global market trends within the hardware tech manufacturing industry.
Build relations with the most influential founders and investors across Greater Southeast Asia
Network with Beacon Funds and other VC partners to structure deals and cultivate the future Musks and Vitaliks of our world
Produce a steady stream of thought leadership and content marketing to solidify AppWorks’ branding
Hone your chops as a venture capitalist and investor
Earn US$ 78K – 173K annually based on your performance and an additional US$ 12K child care assistance per 0-6 years old
To excel in this position, you will need:
5 – 10 years of exposure in the hardware technology, electronics manufacturing, or AI / AIoT-related high-tech industries.
We are specifically looking for experts with deep practical experience and electronics product know-how in areas such as Product-Life-Cycle Management, Go-To-Market strategy, Business Development, or Supply Chain Management for tech products.
Strong preference for candidates with complete experience in taking a product from concept to market (Concept-to-Market).
A strong passion for and curiosity about the hardware technology industry, manufacturing trends and AI/AIoT sector, along with the ability to leverage industry experience to form unique investment theses.
Genuine passion about founders and their stories, technology and making a big impact
Strong networking and business development skills with an ability to travel regularly
A good understanding of who you are and where you are going
A great deal of intellectual curiosity and an ability to think critically
The ability to both zoom in see the details and zoom out to paint a big picture
Proficiency in English, both written and verbal communication
Substantial experience living/working internationally
It would be nice if you also have:
A computer science/maker background or a technical background related to hardware, such as electrical engineering or mechanical engineering.
Experience in successfully commercializing and scaling up (Scale-up) emerging hardware technologies.
